Dear members of the Geneva-Society,
Starting this year, we would like to introduce a mentoring programme to create another opportunity for career information and exchange within the association members.
Overview
- We bring members together in the form of tandems in 1-to-1 mentoring to exchange experiences.
- Matching mentors and mentees as closely as possible through questionnaires.
- The concrete form of the mentoring relationship is up to the respective tandem (e.g. digital or personal meetings, monthly/once a quarter, possibility of an internship with mentors).
- Duration of the mentoring: November 2023 to October 2024. Would you like to participate? Then please register by 15 October 2023 by filling out the corresponding form under the following link.

Why mentoring? Our association members have an invaluable diversity of experience and a special international orientation. We want to contribute to promoting exchange among each other and especially between the “generations” by bringing together younger and more experienced members. The focus is on the exchange of experience and support in reflecting on, concretising and planning professional goals, also in the course of legal training and, if necessary, with a special international orientation.
Who can participate? The mentoring programme is open to all members. You can participate as a mentor if you have completed your studies with the First State Examination or similar and have acquired some professional experience (desirable, but not necessary), are in professional life or are retired. Mentees can be all members who have completed their studies in Geneva, i.e. in particular students, doctoral candidates and trainee teachers.
What is expected of mentors? Above all, the willingness to exchange ideas with a young member of the association approximately every two months for one year, starting in November 2023. The goals and framework conditions of a mentoring relationship are determined by each team itself – of course with our support, including at the kick-off meeting during the annual conference. Every member, even with less experience, should feel encouraged to become a mentor – through appropriate matching, the mentee will definitely benefit from the exchange!
What is expected of mentees? Active shaping of the mentoring relationship and meetings, willingness for self-reflection and constructive feedback, openness for new input and personal responsibility.
How does the programme run? The mentoring programme starts in November 2023 with a hybrid kick-off event at the annual conference in Munich and lasts one year. Once we have found a suitable match for you, we will contact you in good time with all further information. The key data of the mentoring relationship will then be determined together within the tandem. As a rule, several digital or personal meetings take place, for example monthly, every other month or once a quarter.
How can I participate? Quite simply: by completing the relevant registration form linked above by 15 October 2023. We on the board will look for a suitable mentee for you and will probably get back to you in October 2023 with all further information.
Can I be a mentee and a mentor at the same time? Yes, this is possible for graduates of the first state examination or trainee lawyers, for example. Simply fill out both questionnaires. In the first year of the mentor programme, we would be pleased to have as much participation from our members as possible.
If you have any questions, please email us at mentoring@genf-gesellschaft.de.
We warmly request the support of all members who are already in professional life. The Geneva Society thrives on the commitment of its members – be there and support a young member of the society in his or her career orientation or start in the profession.
Many thanks and best regards
The Executive Board
